2025 Yale BC Alumni Pizza Night

To kick off the first Yale BC alumni gathering of 2025, we brought a taste of New Haven to Vancouver! Will Portman suggested Industry Apizza, a local spot known for its authentic New Haven-style pizza, giving us the perfect opportunity to reminisce about our college days over a classic slice.

Will led the evening, which was filled with lively conversations, shared memories, and of course, fantastic pizza. It was a wonderful way to reconnect, meet new faces, and start the year with great company.

A heartfelt thank you to Louisa and Eden for organizing this event and to everyone who joined us to make it such a fun and memorable night. We look forward to many more alumni gatherings in 2025!

Thank you to all the Harvard and Yale alumni who joined us on November 23, 2024! The Harvard-Yale Football Game viewing event at Mahony’s Tavern Convention Centre in Vancouver was a great success, filled with camaraderie and football spirit. Congratulations to Yale for the big win! We look forward to seeing you at future gatherings and events.

On October 30th, our Yale Club members got into the Halloween spirit with a Halloween Fun Run for Charity! Dressed in creative costumes, participants enjoyed a fun and festive run, all for a great cause.

Highlights of the event included:

🏅 Top Performers: Alexandra placed 1st among the women and 2nd overall, while Eden took 2nd place among the women and finished 4th overall! Congratulations to both for their fantastic efforts!

This year Yale Club of BC had the pleasure of listening to Basie Bales Gitlin (Yale College '10), present on the topic of Yale’s extensive museums and collections. Basie graduated from Yale College with a B.A. in history and received an M.Phil. in history from Pembroke College, Cambridge.

More about Basie: Active in the world of books, he serves as Secretary of the Grolier Club of New York City, Librarian of the Elizabethan Club, Co-Chair (with fellow Honorary Member Miko McGinty ’93, ’98 MFA) of Yale’s Adrian Van Sinderen Book Collecting Prize and recently signed on to the Advisory Council of the American Trust for the British Library. He currently serves as director of development for Yale University Library and Yale Collections.

A trustee of the New Haven Museum and the Mory’s Association, Basie has held other Yale volunteer roles including interviewing for ASC, for his class, the the Yale Alumni Fund and the Yale Club of New Haven. With his father, Jay Gitlin ’71, he has co-authored an article on Elihu Yale and a book-length history of Mory’s.
